It seems like we have seen a similar collection from Rounder a few years ago, but it didn't seem to warrant further play, and we feel the same way about this 12-track compilation. It's hard to believe that all of these songs made it to "number one" on the charts (Bluegrass Unlimited we assume, because what other meaningful charts are there?) Legitimate candidates for the "hit" category here are ME & JOHN AND PAUL (The Grascals), WHEELS (Dan Tyminski), THROUGH THE WINDOW OF A TRAIN (Blue Highway), and possibly SADIE'S GOT HER NEW DRESS ON. There's nothing bad here, and it's a good list of artists like J.,D. Crowe, Claire Lynch and Dailey & Vincent, but we would not call this very successful, even for a sampler.
