This is an excellent, generous helping of old-time music by a band that takes its music seriously but still has a lot of fun in presenting it. The four who make up the band are Kinney Rorrer, Jeremy Stephens, Kirk Sutphin and Darren Moore --all well schooled in the style of Charlie Poole and other old time musicians from the Danville and Virginia/North Carolina border area that gave us a very impressive amount of great musical recordings in the 1920s and 30s. The band does not limit its repertoire to the Poole sound, but is well versed in other styles of rural music including the sounds of the Carter Family (FATE OF DEWEY LEE, WEARY PRODIGAL SON, WILL YOU MISS ME). There are 20 cuts here, in a well-produced and nicely packaged album. A fine recording by an excellent old-time band --RECOMMENDED!
