Coming out on the 100th anniversary year of Bill Monroe's birth, this is a well done all instrumental tribute to the father of Bluegrass music. Looking at the pickers who were selected for this album, we would expect nothing less than excellence: a total of eight artists share in the recording, which includes their versions of KENTUCKY WALTZ, ROAD TO COLUMBUS, MOLLY & TENBROOKS, I SAW THE LIGHT, LONESOME ROAD BLUES, CRYING HOLY and the title tune (18 tracks in all). The musicians are Bryan Sutton (Guitar), Mike Scott (banjo), Aubrey Haynie (fiddle), Mike Compton (mandolin), Ben Isaacs (bass), Adam Steffey (mandolin), Tim Stafford (guitar), and Rob Ickes (dobro). There is a generous amount of good Bluegrass picking here.
