Banjo picker Greg Cahill has maintained an excellent band in the Chicago area for many years now, and this new album is another first-rate collection of solid Bluegrass, well played and sung. It's basically traditional style 'grass, though there are some contemporary touches. Apart from SEA OF HEARTBREAK, the songs are all pretty much new to the genre, and include compositions by such writers as Harley Allen, Craig Market, Mark Brinkman, Billy Smith and Tim Stafford. The record also includes the work of guests Stuart Duncan, Chris Jones, Josh Williams and Alison Brown. We are not sure why the 4 core members of the band do not seem to want to use their last names anywhere in the notes and credits in this otherwise nicely produced CD.
