Although born in Europe, The Kruger Brothers got to love American oldtime and Bluegrass music --to such an extent that they moved to North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, a town very close to Doc Watson's home in Deep Gap, N.C. They became friends with Doc and his family, and were hired by Doc to play at almost every single Merle Fest from 1997 to the present. The brothers play guitars and old-time banjo, and while they often go off into a style that could be termed "new age acoustic", on this new record they devote their picking to 14 songs that are all associated with the late Doc Watson. They seem very much at home with all the songs and tunes, with the result that this is a very consistent, and satisfying album. LITTLE SADIE, TOM DOOLEY, SHADY GROVE, TROUBLE IN MIND, WINDY & WARM, etc.
