Ms. Ulisse, who at one time (way back in 1991) had a major label contract with Atlantic Records, only to be released after a couple of country singles & videos, is trying Bluegrass now, and the Virginia born lady seems pretty much at home with that genre. A former Nashville demo singer, she has a good voice and has written all 14 of the songs on this album. Producer Keith Sewell has backed her with excellent sidemen including Andy Leftwich on fiddle, Scott Vestal on banjo, Jesse Cobb on mandolin and Byron House on bass. Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Wendy Sewell and Rick Stanley help out on vocal harmonies. (Ms. Ulisse is married to Rick Stanley, son of Ralph Stanley's first cousin Richard, and Ralph played at her wedding (if that helps her Bluegrass credentials!). There's some pretty solid Bluegrass here, especially on cuts like MY PRAYER.
