THE MOON TROTTERS
We are not sure what to make of this young group that mixes several well played old time tunes with a bunch of mostly non-descript, sketchy vocals that seem out of place with the better cuts on the recording. It's hard to imagine the singers at home with any style of music (except pop?), but they seem to be largely out of place in a Bluegrass or old-time setting. The two-man, two-lady band is led by banjo picker Victor Furtado, and Nate Leath is one of several guests. We can't imagine anyone getting excited about GYPSY QUEEN, DO YOU BELIEVE IN GHOSTS or SMILE, but there is some nice pickin' on the old timers RICHMOND, BREAKING UP CHRISTMAS, DURANG'S HORNPIPE and JULIANNE JOHNSON.
