From West Virginia, the Long Point String Band approaches traditional music, plus three fast pieces from the Bill Monroe repertoire. They feature the unusual line up of mandolin, lap dulcimer (Hunter Walker is a three-time Galax champ with a driving approach of the Don Pedi sort), string bass, and guitar. Given that structure, the band, which contains a blend of bluegrass and old-time players, features dulcimer and mandolin a lot. Hunter's dulcimer refuses to take a back seat in ripping through tunes like "Roanoke."
