In parts of the Blue Ridge, Scott Freeman is considered a more than awesome mandolin player comfortable with both bluegrass and old-time. Mr. Satisfied, named for one of his five compositions on the ten-cut album, allows Scott to demonstrate his considerable swing skills – both Django- and Bob Wills-style swing, influence by Jethro Burns and Tiny Moore. Backed by an exceptional lot including his daughter Dori, flatpicking sensation Presley Barker, and the woefully underappreciated David Johnson, Scott delivers beautiful music that both intense and casual listeners can appreciate. Brilliant stuff, but not a lick of bluegrass or old-time.
