Bear Family does its usual fine production job on this 28-track CD that features tribute cuts by such artists as Gene Autry, Dwight Butcher, Enrest Tubb, Hank Snow, Asher Sizemore and Little Jimmie, and Bradley Kincaid (whose name is mis-spelled at least 5 times--a surprising mistake for this otherwise very precise label). Music-wise, it serves to remind us that there are only was only one Jimmie Rodgers. That is not to say there aren't some interesting moments here, especially from Tubb and Snow, but the bulk of the songs are mostly lame, tedious performances that seem more like attempts to capitalize on Rodgers' name than heartfelt expressions of loss. Some will find this of interest, and there are quite a few nice photos from the Jimmie Rodgers' day celebration in Meridian, Miss.
